Cleveland Dam & Whytecliff Park

Sunday's plans involved taking advantage of a week's worth of rain by visiting the Cleveland Dam in West Van. The dam is pretty spectacular (particularly when it is running at full force) and there are quite a few forest trails in and around the area.  I'm a bit shocked that it doesn't seem to be a more popular destination. I suppose it gets overshadowed by the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Lynn Valley.

There is a really lovely, though distant, view of the two Lions Peaks from the dam.

The second lookout point involved a lot of mist that clouded my lens. The effect was sort of romantic.

After finishing our walk around the Cleveland Dam, we calculated that we had just enough time to grab pizza from Horseshoe Bay before catching the sunset at Whytecliff Park. This North Van beach is similar to Lighthouse park, but beautiful in its own way. Braden, Kirk, and I ventured onto the peninsula for a spectacular view of the sunset.

It was a bit scary taking my camera up the rock. Life is going to be a whole lot easier when my new Polar Stuff backpack arrives.
