Galiano Island

This past weekend I took Whitney, Chelsea, and Anna to my families cabin on Galiano Island. I've been telling them about this place since we met seven years ago, so it was a pretty big deal that they finally had the opportunity to experience it first hand. It's one of my favourite places on earth and a huge part of my childhood.

We enjoyed a perfectly pastel sunset on the ferry ride from Tsawwassen to Sturdies Bay.

The cabin is on a private piece of land, slash sheep farm, shared by a group of families. I haven't been out in the spring for years. During the summer months the area becomes dry and brown, but this weekend we got to experience wildflowers, cherry blossoms, and green grass.

We spent the entire weekend lazing around our little stretch of beach. It was such fantastic weather that all plans of hiking Mt. Galiano were thrown out in favour of suntanning. The only time we ventured away from the farm was to eat dinner at the Hummingbird Pub (which I highly recommend).

The farm dog's name is Mossy. He was very good company.

An advantage to visiting in the spring is the lack of a fire ban. So our night consisted of a beach bonfire, stargazing, summer ale, and the first s'mores of the season.

Before we caught our ferry (which we shared with the band Hey Ocean!), we stopped by Montague Harbour.

The beach is white from being scattered by millions of crushed shells. It felt almost tropical with the unusually warm weather.

Another fantastic girls weekend for the books. Thanks for joining me Anna, Chelsea, and Whitney!
