Emily & Mark - Chilliwack Outdoor Micro Wedding

Emily and Mark’s outdoor micro wedding was the first wedding I photographed in 2020 that was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It took place right after initial shut downs had been lifted and everyone was trying to figure out what a safe wedding gathering could look like.

To keep their guests safe, the ceremony was held outdoors (despite the looming rain clouds) with guest’s seats spaced out in an open field. To reduce the number of guests, Emily and Mark live streamed their ceremony and had a car parade to greet the guests who tuned in from afar.

This summer was very confusing and complicated for couples wanting to get married and I really appreciate the precautions, creativity, and optimism Emily and Mark brought to their revised wedding day. When the rain did end up pouring down near the end of the ceremony, and later again during portraits, they hardly noticed—they were just happy to be wed. And honestly, the dark rain clouds only enhanced the beauty of their photo gallery.
