Florida Pool

I have a new series that I'm going to try out called Water. I'm starting to experiment with underwater photography. It's really a whole other world so it's going to take a lot of trial and error. 

This first attempt took place on my vacation in Florida. I got myself a Nikon Coolpix waterproof camera (pretty much the cheapest option on the market) and tried it out with Chelsea. We found the ocean to be too murky, but the pool worked well. The camera is quite low quality so the photos came out with a low-fi quality that I find to be very reminiscent of film photography. 

It quickly became clear to us that staged photos were nearly impossible and that we had to rely on flukes. I really love how the photos have a distint abstract quality.

My goal for the summer is to try this camera out in a variety of scenarios and see what happens. I'll try out other pools and lakes and even give the ocean another try. I'll post the results here under the title Water.
